We have 6 additional Weimaraners in foster that are either in the process of healing from wounds, or just being trained to become a family member in a home. Please check back often as our list is updated when a new weim is ready to come home.
"Seki" | Seki is a 6 year old, silver female who has smoothly transitioned from being
a yard/breeding weim to a house pet. Seki has had 6 litters of puppies and has the
gentle presence of a mother. Due to her great motherhood, her girlish figure isn’t quite what it used to be! She is quiet and submissive with people but wags her tail as she wanders to you for a treat or back rubs. With other dogs, she will give a maternal low growl if they linger around her dog bed or food bowl but has shown no signs of aggression. At her previous home she remained outside free to wander through the woods and farmland, so she should not be placed with other small fury animals anticipating that she would have a strong prey instinct. Amazingly with moving indoors, she has had only one potty accident and doesn't exhibit any destructive behaviors such as chewing inappropriate objects, jumping on counters or people, or barking excessively. Although she has always been with other dogs, she just may enjoy some peace and quite after all of those puppies! Fostered in Des Moines IA Seki's adoption donation is $150
"Gracie" | Gracie is a 4-5 year old 65lb spayed female Weim who came from a backyard breeder where she was treated poorly. She is unusually calm for a Weim and has a sweet, gentle personality. She is still timid of people, especially strangers, but has made great progress learning to trust and warm up to her foster family. She gets along well with other dogs, but would do better in a home without cats and small children because she scares easily when things move quickly. Gracie knows basic commands, walks great on a leash, is housebroke and crate trained (although she is quite the escape artist). She loves to pace the yard and guard the house, but is just as content napping on her plush bed indoors. While very sweet, Gracie is not a typical affectionate, lap dog kind of Weim. She’s content keeping her eye on you from her bed rather than following you around the house. Due to her sheltered beginning, she’s still learning how to enjoy toys, bones, and balls. Gracie has an old hip fracture, which is fully healed; she gets around great on it, even jumping in and out of an SUV, but does have a small limp. However, she may at some point need medical treatment for arthritis in it as she ages. She does require a minor dietary alteration. Gracie is fostered in the Kansas City Metro area. Gracie's adoption donation is $150.
"Lucy" Lucy is a young, 10 year old, fully vetted, female who LOVES people. Lucy is both house and crate trained. She loves to go on walks. She responds to basic commands (sit, lie down, shake). She can be as energetic as any Weim, but is overall a mature and very mellow dog. Lucy is very affectionate and responds well to people; she really likes to be physically near her people as much as possible. She has not spent a lot of time with other dogs; but when she does, she gets along with them. She is not good with cats. She has spent time with a small child and is tolerant but prefers adults. Lucy will be a wonderful addition to the right family who is looking for a pretty, sweet Weim. Lucy is fostered in the KC Metro area. Lucy's adoption donation is $150.
"Jelly Belly" Jelly is a beautiful 2 year old, blue female weim. She is great with children and can sit, down, and shake. Jelly does well with other large dogs, but has a high prey drive and will not do well with small dogs and cats. Fully house trained, crate trained, and fully vetted, Jelly was abandoned when her owner went to rehab forgetting he had left a dog behind. After two weeks of no food, Jelly came to us very thin, she is fine but needs to gain additional weight to look her best. Jelly is ready to come home. Jelly is fostered in the Kansas City Metro area. Jelly's adoption donation is $250.
"Annie" Annie is a 2 ½ year old blue female that is currently free to roam on an acreage. She exhibits some alpha traits and her family believes she would do better as an only dog. She has not spent much time living indoors, but loves to sneak in when she gets the chance! Annie is working on some basic commands and loves to be around people and children. She would also benefit from a weight management program. Fostered in Iowa. Annie's adoption donation is $250
"Readen" Raedan is a 1 year old AKC registered neutered weim who is an owner surrender. He is crate trained and house broke. He knows basic commands and his leash training is improving every day. He can be leery at first but warms up quickly. He gets along great will other dogs and loves playing with his foster weim sister. He loves snuggling and following his foster parents everywhere. He has a lot of energy at times but is quick to settle down and relax at your feet. He has not shown and destructive behaviors when left alone. He loves the outdoors and just going anywhere. He would make a great addition for a active family. He has a great hunting stance and would make a great hunting companion. He is fostered in Yukon, Oklahoma. Raeden's adoption donation is $250
"Balou" Balou is 6 years young, up to date on all his shots, heart worm negative and already neutered. He is also house trained, crate trained, loves car rides and knows sit and down. His favorite thing to do is sit next to you and then collapse in a pile for a good belly rub. Besides a good belly rub, loving to cuddle on the couch and sleep next to you in bed Balou would be a great running or walking partner as he loves to go for walks. Balou gets along great with other dogs and children but has a very high prey drive and will not be placed with cats. Balou is ready to be your new best friend. Fostered in Des Moines IA Balou's adoption donation is $150
"Hunter" Hunter is a fully vetted 3.5 year old silver male. He LOVES to play, especially with balls, and is a GREAT fetcher; he brings the ball right back and drops it at your feet! He is fully crate trained (and is absolutely wonderful in it) and housetrained. He walks fairly well on a leash, has never met a dog he doesn’t love and has a great zest for life. He loves to snuggle, either beside you, under the blankets with you, or in your lap! Hunter would do well in a home with no young children. He is doing extremely well on learning to relinquishing toys gently, basic obedience, and manners. A patient, consistent owner who devotes time and attention to him, with LOTS of exercise and some positive reinforcement training, will be rewarded with a loyal and trusting companion. Fostered in Iowa City Hunter's adoption donation is $250
"Beauty" | Beauty is fully vetted 50 pound 3 year old female Weim. She loves to play with other dogs and enjoys being around kids. She is a dream on the leash and enjoys walks. She is house broke but needs a home with doggie door. She is working on basic commands such as sit and stay. Beauty has had a rough life and needs a gentle caring family. She has been abused possibly by an adult and takes some time worming up to new adults. Fast movements will scare her and needs a family that can work with her and her socialization. She may even do well with a single adult, to give her the one on one attention. When Beauty is handled to harshly by an individual she will get scared and shy away. This being said she needs a family that is gentle with her and will be her best friend. She has not been around cats at her foster home, but would probably do very well with them. She is always very curious of her surroundings and is a great dog! Fostered in Yukon, Oklahoma. Beauty's adoption donation is $250
"Ashton" Ashton is a 3 year old, 55 lb, spayed female. She is very loving and sweet, but needs extra time to warm up, as she is timid with new people and surroundings. She prefers older children and adults and loves to go outside to play with other dogs. She likes to chew on toys and chase them, but hasn't learned how to fetch yet. Ashton is house broken and working on basic commands and crate training. She has a moderate energy level and will do best in a home that can provide lots of affection and exercise. Fostered in Edmond, Oklahoma. Ashton's adoption donation is $250
"Luke" Luke is approximately a 1 year neutered male weim who is full of puppy energy and love. He is crate trained, house broken and is just about there on leash training. He is very gentle for his age and willing to learn new things. He is very loving and eager to please. He knows his name and will come to you when you call him. He likes to run after tennis balls and most of the time he will return them to you. If you are a jogger/runner then he is your dog. He doesn’t tire easily. He is a very good dog and will be a very good companion for some lucky person. He is Fostered in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Luke's adoption donation is $300
"Boo" Boo is a 4 year old gray female, spayed and vetted who is an owner surrender to a local Shelter. She loves to play with her Weim sisters, and gets along with other dogs. She is shy at first, but will warm up quickly to her forever family. Lilli is both house trained; she is also crate trained, but would much rather be with her family. Lilli is learning to walk on a leash. She does take it slowly at first in new surroundings, but with a little more time and encouragement, she will make a great walking companion. .Lilli needs to be in a home with no cats. Lilli is looking for a quiet home where she will be loved. Fostered in the Kansas City Metro area. Lilli's adoption donation is $250
"Phoenix" Phoenix is a 2 year old, 80 pound, male Weim; he was on owner surrender to a shelter. Working on manners and obedience training. "Ms. Pinky" | Ms Pinkie is a 2 year old silver female who came into Heartland Weim Rescue via a breeder. Pinkie's first and only
litter of puppies was at 18 months of age. The focus at her foster home has bringing her back to the fun of puppyhood. Her foster mom thinks she is the most entertaining and quirky Weim! Pinky is VERY submissive and enjoys the company of other dogs; but still lingers in the periphery with new people.
Her previous owners kept their dogs outside to wander the countryside
year round. Her winter coat has nearly shed and now is sleek and shiny.
Her name came from her nose being pink with some speckling. Having lived
outdoors, she is skillful at bringing small animals to my doorstep. Singlehandedly, she caught a blackbird that flew into my kitchen, placed it on the deck step, and watched it fly away!! Chew toys such as rawhides, cow hooves are a good toy for her. She is polite with not jumping on people, counter surfing or barking excessively. The best time of day is at bedtime when she collapses on the couch all four paws in the air ready for a belly and neck rub! Fostered in Des Moines, IA. Ms. Pinky's adoption donation is $250
"Jed" Jed is a sweet male Weim, approximately 6 years old, who weighs about 75 pounds. He loves snuggling with people and water retrieving. He is a natural in the water and will bring the ball right back to your feet. Jed is blind in one eye, but that does not stop him from excelling at fetch. He is fine around other dogs, but has little interest in playing with them. Because he's a bit older, he would be a great companion for someone who wants a dog who can keep up with an active lifestyle, but who might not be able to dedicate time to exercise a Weim every day. Jed does have some anxiety in the crate, so his ideal family would be someone who does not need to crate him for long periods of time. He has not been around cats or children while in his foster home. Jed is a great Weim looking for his own perfect home. Fostered in Lawrence KS Jed's adoption donation is $150
"Lady Belle" Lady Belle is a beautiful 2 year old spayed blue female who is an owner surrender to a local Shelter. She is a very sweet and gentle girl who loves to snuggle! "Henry" Henry is a 1 year old neutered grey male who is an owner surrender. He is crate trained and house trained. He is full of puppy energy and love. He gets along great with men, women and children. He will still jump at times so he would do better in a home with older children. He loves to play fetch, run and play outside. He gets along great with other dogs and cats. He enjoys being outside and would love to have a home where is could go on outdoor activities. Henry is fostered in Oklahoma City, OK. Henry's adoption donation is $250
"Kyra" | Kyra is a very sweet and gentle 8-year-old spayed Weimaraner. She is a very petite dog weighing in at only 40lbs. She gets along well with dogs and cats but does chase bunnies. She is fully house trained and crate trained for short periods of time. Kyra sleeps on her own bed and does not get on the furniture although she would very much like to be a lap dog if you’ll let her. Don’t let her age fool you, she loves to go for runs and has boundless energy. Kyra is a very loving dog who prefers to be near her person over other people or animals. She knows the commands leave it, sit, here, lay down, roll over, paw and other paw. She loves to go for car rides and to the dog park though her favorite activity is walking/running the trails. Kyra loves belly rubs, hugs, treats, and is a joy to have in our home.
Kyra is being surrendered as her family’s schedule has changed dramatically and she is spending much more time in her crate. Kyra is good with kids though she is leery of children under 8-years-old. Kyra takes a low dose of Proin for urinary incontinence and it is completely controlled. She also takes an anti-anxiety medication to help with separation anxiety. Kyra is fostered in Nebraska Kyra's adoption donation is $150
