      The Weim Breed

We realize this is a tough decision for any owner to make. If you have a desire to keep your Weim, but are having problems with it, please contact us and we will try to give you suggestions that will help you keep your dog. If circumstances dictate that you must surrender your dog, we are also here for you.
You will be contacted about your weimaraner. PLEASE be honest with your answers, we realize there are special behavioral problems with weims, and will still accept them. We just need to know as MUCH as we can about your Weim so that (s)he can be placed in the proper home. Please have the following information ready as you will be asked many questions.

      Date

Your Name, Full Address, and Phone Numbers we can contact you at:

Name and Age of Your Dog

      Is your Dog Registered?

      Who was the Breeder?

      Date of Last Vaccinations?

Name and Phone number of your Vet?

      Is your dog crate trained?

      Is your dog house trained?

      Does your dog honor fences?

How is your dog with children? Adults? Other Dogs? Cats?

Is your dog spayed or neutered?

Is your dog on heartworm preventative? Date of last heartworm check?

Special toys your dog loves to play with?

Activities your dog enjoys ie: swimming, playing ball etc.

Reason you must surrender your dog.
Depending on the numbers of dogs we currently have in foster, will determine when we would be able to accept your dog for foster. If we are full, you may be asked to foster your dog until we have room, or until we locate the RIGHT home for your dog.

We want to assure you that we are very picky about where our rescue dogs are placed. Once we accept your dog into rescue, we make a lifetime commitment to your dog. If for any reason the dog has to be surrendered, the dog is returned to Heartland Weim Rescue (by contract.)
Families wanting to adopt a weim MUST complete an Adoption Application, we we ask them many questions, references, and do Home Visits to ensure proper placement of the dogs. It does no one any good to improperly place a dog, only to have it returned in a month. Our first concern is for the dogs, NOT the families wanting them. We make every attempt to place a dog back into as close the atmosphere as they are used to, such as children etc.
If you need to surrender your dog, please copy, paste the questions and your answers to an e-mail and send to the Coordinator for that state, the information is below.
