      Waggin Tales News 2003

      January

We did it!! The WCGKC voted to Incorporate Rescue! We will be filing for the Incorporation papers and filing for the 501 as soon as possible. We have an attorney that will prepare the paperwork, making sure the t's are crossed and the I's dotted!
Rescue slowed down for the last two weeks of the year, but our figures for the last 6 months of 2002 were overwhemling. In the short 6 months we had 53 dogs pass through our process. Many many thanks to our volunteers and for those who made donations to help raise the much needed rescue funds.

      February

Like all new organizations, we are suffering from growing pains. Trying to figure out who will do what and when. We are running about 10 dogs all the time steady. Country Kennels has agreed to help us with our overflow of dogs by offering us a Rescue price for boarding. This is the first time we have ever had to Board rescue dogs and hope its short lived! Country Kennels is great, but nothing can complare to being inside a loving home.

      March

We are looking for more volunteers!! If you know anyone in the 4 state area that would like to help us, please have them contact us! We have been hit hard with dogs again. We were "blessed" with three needing ALOT of medical attention. A raffle is beibg organized to help defer their medical expenses. Three Weim Raffle will held, and the drawing on May 1st.

      April

Got Tickers? Raffle tickets are on sale for the Three Weim Raffle!! The medical expenses for jsut three of the dogs exceeds $1200! Owner surrenders are starting to hit now. The most common reason, "moved into a new home." Our foster homes are full again, and are thankful we have two new volunteers!

      May

The raffle was a success. The winners are posted on the Raffle page. Thank you everyone who bought tickets or donated items. We have decided we will be holding another raffle, drawing to be held October 1st! If you have any dog realted items you would like to dontate, please send them to us.

We are running steady at 10-15 dogs now. Many are owner surrenders. We are going to start a volunteer push this month in increase the number of active volunteers. Those of us who have been fostering without much of a break between dogs since June are getting burned out. This is the most dangerous part of rescue. Burn outs are un-neccessary with a solid base of volunteers. Anyone interested is asked to complete a volunteer application, and discuss what areas you can help in. Volunteers who are willing to foster MUST sign a Foster Agreement for every dog they foster. This is to protect everyone involved. You, by assuring you that all the dogs expenses are paid for by Heartland, and Heartland by you acknowledging you are only fostering the dog, and will abide by our Foster Guidelines. The Foster family WILL have a voice in where the dog is placed.

We have been working hard on the web page. Its almost complete. We will be adding the Rescue Merchandise page shortly. If oyu have any suggestions or comments, please e-mail Gail.

We do need to ask the volunteers. Your names are listed on the Volunteer page. Would you mind, or like to have your e-mail address linked to your name? If so, contact Gail with the e-mail address you would like to use.
